Do you experience dryness and roughness of hair? Then, this one is for you. The Patanjali Shikakai Shampoo is a good product that helps in making your hair manageable and healthy. This herbal shampoo by Patanjali is a healthy product for less hair fall, less greying, preventing itchy scalp and smoother hair texture.
Patanjali has become a popular brand in India with reasonably priced products. Marketed as Baba Ramdev’s Divya products, the Patanjali brand is becoming a much loved brand. They make 5-6 different variants of shampoos prepared using natural ingredients like milk protein, reetha, shikakai, Aloe Vera, etc.
When using the Patanjali Shikakai shampoo, we would recommend you to just dilute the shampoo with a little water first and then pour the solution on your scalp. This way the shampoo will not directly affect your roots. Though it’s herbal shampoo but why risk your hair. Massage the scalp well so that the lather produced can take out all dirt, dust, pollution particles and oil and then, wash with clear water. This is a good hair cleanser.

Would LunchTableReview's team recommend a buy?
We would recommend this shampoo for oily scalp type as it is a good cleanser that also makes your hair smoother with natural shine. It comes with the benefits of shikakai. However, do not buy this one with expectations to handle your hair fall woes. This one isn’t meant for that. Also, the fact that it contains silicones and sulphates is upsetting

Key Ingredients

  • Shikakaki, a magical herb for your hair, is the main ingredient here.
  • Other natural ingredients likebhringraj, gudhal (hibiscus), sugarcane and walnut, sunflower oil
  • Silicones and sulphates
  • Milk protein that helps in treating rough, damaged hair

The Patanjali Shikakai shampoo is a good herbal hair cleanser that nourishes your hair and enhances the growth of hair.

We have here classified Patanjali Shikakai Shampoo Review based on the following parameters:

Consistency

The honey-coloured Patanjali Shikakai shampoo comes with a thick gel consistency. Its colour only reminds us of the brownish reddish Shikakai water that you must have used sometime to clean your hair. This gets difficult to apply on the scalp. We will thus advice that you should dilute the shampoo with a little water first and then pour on the solution to your scalp for the ease of application.

Hair Shine

The herbal extracts of Shikakai and other natural ingredients give your hair a natural shine. However the smoothness and shine last only for a day post wash. The Patanjali Shikakai shampoo makes your hair feel soft and is good for preventing grey hair.

Hair Smoothness

The shampoo cleans up your hair and helps them become smooth and tangle free. But the hair tips can be felt getting a bit dry by the next day after wash, which often makes consumers uneasy.

Fragrance

The Patanjali Shikakai shampoo smells like something herbal. You may consider the fragrance similar to those Ayurvedi syrups.

Customer Satisfaction

The shampoo is a good hair cleanser but too much oily hair might need 2 washes to get the oil removed totally. You should not expect any drastic change in hair fall.

Value for Money

The Patanjali Shikakai shampoo comes in a plastic white colour bottle with a maroon coloured flip cap that fits well, Rs.95 for 200 ml with 3 years shelf life, which makes it pretty affordable. It is indeed good value for money as it takes away the dryness and makes your hair manageable.

Pros of Patanjali Shikakai Shampoo

  • Highly reasonable price with long lasting shampoo that lathers well
  • Easily available at different Patanjali stores in the country along with other local shops too
  • Contains herbal extracts
  • Gives shine and smoothness to rough, damaged hair

Cons of Patanjali Shikakai Shampoo

  • Doesn’t bring any significant improvement in hair fall
  • Contains silicones and is prepared in a surfactant base

  1. Horrible Experience

The genuine product from the salon doesn’t dry my hair out. My color seemed really drab this time and I just thought it faded quickly, until my color was redone and I washed it twice in 4 days I’m deeper tones and it stripped my color. This can’t be genuine!
